Has anyone out there got a starter motor for one of these engines ?. I am in the uk and if I can get a look at one I can probably remake one if I can get dimensions and pictures, if I can get a look at one and measure it .

I don't have one but a chap called Richard Staveley has a large number of Gnomes. If you'd like me to put you in touch then give me a PM. I see you have that Derwent truck that was on eBay as your avatar. Did you buy it or were you the seller? Looks like a fun thing to have

I was the seller .. The Derwent was lying in a scrapyard for 20 odd years before I found it. Did a bit of a restoration on it, There was a lot of damage and missing parts so it took a couple of years.. It was a pretty good moment when it fired up for the first time, as some of you turbine nuts will appreciate !!. This one flew in Belgium in a Gloster Meteor around 1951 / 52. A bit sad to let it go , but I have moved recently and no longer have the space. It is still in Devon though so it probably isn't the last we'll see of it.
