Today I found time to start making the oil tank for the test bench, the one I will fit in the frame will be an aluminum tank profiled after the bottom fairing so this is just a simple stainless 4 L tank for the initial testing.

I know everyone is thinking..."will you go ahead and light that thing already!!" I know I am, but I also know there are many things which must be in place for the "lighting" to happen. ;D Tank looks good. Just make sure you charge the video recorder batteries. James

Tell me about it, this spring I was sure the engine would be up and running by June but for every day a start seemed to get further and further away, those final tweaks take more time than you know. A friend has found a guy who will fill my scuba tank even though it hasn´t gone through the necessary paperwork for the last 15 years, it is an aluminum tank so there is no risk of rust inside it so tank integrity is not an issue.

Wohoo, beer! By march I expect to have the gas producer well sorted out and the power turbine build in progress, not even beer can delay that plan.

I´ve finished the oil tank now! It has one filler cap, two AN6 return lines, one AN6 oil line with a pickup tube reaching to the bottom of the tank, one temp probe and a 10mm vent hole for the smoke. Cheers!

I'll send a few bottles of Vodka over there to slow your ass down a little. Are you able to soundly sleep while machining metal? I'm not there yet, I'm at the point where I start machining metal and I start thinking about pussy and beer and I'm smiling and once in a while i look at my hands and wow, look at them go they're running the machinery just fine without my help so I laugh and go back to the pussy and beer daydreams.

You are a strange man Chris, a normal man daydream about metal working while drinking beer and eating beaver and not the other way around... ;D

All of the oil hoses are made now and all that is left is to connect the P2 gauge and the fuel pump. The hoses between the scavange pumps and the oil tank are transparent so I can see how much air that goes through with the oil. I got a bit carried away last light and threw together a small valveless pulsejet engine from a vaccum cleaner hose and the old oil tank from the jet-pocketbike, it needs some more tuning with the fuel injector and the tailpipe lenght but it still runs hard and makes a heart tearing noice. ;D Cheers!

It sure does! ;D
I tested the preheat today and it works perfectly, three propane syringe injectors sits next to the diesel injectors in the combustor and a 12V fan in front of the engine blows enough air through the combustor to properly burn the propane.
Next up is to fit the spark plug and source a fuel pump since my old Walbro pump has thrown in the towel...

if Anders worked for NASA we could have gone to the moon for about 1/2 of what it cost to fake it.

Ha! ;D Anyway I massaged a spark plug in the lathe just now and fitted it to the engine, a quick preheat test showed that it ignites the propane instantly so that is one problem less.
