Hi All, Last night my son finished wrapping the steering wheel fairing, I did the edge with some beading and we fitted it up, I think it looks OK, at least I hope it looks better than the "lime Green" it was before... here's a pic: The nose fairing isn't quite finished yet but I'll get pic up when it's done. Should look cool when all done. Will have the kart out tomorrow & Sunday for a show....wish me luck. Cheers, Smithy.

I've just been invited to a car show up near your way in September, Port Macquarie MotorMania...might be a chance for us to catch up at least. I'm looking at accommodation for myself and the missus and will confirm my attendance at the event in the next week or two. www.ozshowcars.com/csnspmmanpm.htmCheers, Smithy.

I can just see it, the GT6041 with a power turbine stage runnin' the oil pumps for that big blue monster Steve.

Hey Brett, Found some photos of my rotormaster turbo beside the T30 as you can see the difference in size. Cheers, Mark.

Hi Smithy
I hope we can catch up in September if you make it up this way , we've supposedly got family coming to stay in September , but I'd like to have a chat, maybe see the kart burning kero and hear the A/B in full song , so I'll sneak away if need be , its only a good half hours drive to where the show is being held, they'll never miss me if I'm quick ;-)
Cheers John

Hey smithy, How'd you go over the weekend get much runtime in, all good?? Cheers, Marc. Hi Marc, Weekend was good, Saturday was better than Sunday...heaps more people there spectating on Sat too. The "beast" as usual started and ran nicely, A/B is working very well plenty of smoke, fire, noise and corruption There's certainly a decent A/B hit too... John, I had previously adjusted the fuel stop and now had a maximum of ~39psi P2, she was starting to climb/jump the wheel chocks and push two 20L fuel drums along the ground ... so she's making plenty of thrust, especially with the nice cool, dense air we had over the weekend... I refrained from doing that again whilst there were young children around...last thing I need is to be chasing the beast around the local scenery. On Sunday morning I had a couple of light-off dramas, I first suspected the spark plug or igniter module was a bit on the dead side so I removed the plug and tested the spark...all good there ...I then fiddled and fumbled around with some other bits to find they were all working correctly....turned out I was running low on propane start gas Doh..! Sometimes it would, pop or fart, sometimes it wouldn't...!? All good in the end, my missus was kind enough to trot off to the local servo and refill it for me... all good after that...my fault though.. I left my spare propane bottle at home What was strange though was the original propane bottle, (a 4kg BBQ item), felt like it still had plenty in it, I could hear and feel it sloshing around inside...!!?? Maybe the cold weather was a contributing factor.?? After one of the runs I ha a look up it's bum to see if all was still good, I had shattered the ceramic bit of a spark plug I have in the A/B pipe for an igniter, possibly from several A/B hits?? Although I suspect I may have cracked or damaged it at some stage during one of my multiple fitting/sorting sessions in the shed. I'll be removing the A/B pipe and popping the top off the CC in the next week or so to inspect the turbine wheel and innards just to make sure all is as it should be, I don't expect any major dramas though, the engine itself is running well. Cheers, Smithy.

Hi Smithy
LOL , a good time was had , excellent news :-)
Yep , gotta watch out for little children .
Theres one thing that I'd like you to check when you have the top off the CC and thats the evaporator to top cap joint security , its one thing I was a tad concerned with during construction as I'm not sure just how much evaporator vibration there is inside the combustor from the combustion process , and whether or not that will stress the joint, I considered having a "security strap" welded around all the evaporator main arms to prevent/reduce any vibration but decided against it as it could burn off and go through the turbine , unfortunately the evaporators are small enough to get through the scroll to the turb wheel, but decided it was "safer" to just have a regular check to make sure things were OK .
Heh heh , you've done a lot more running of the engine than I ever envisaged it would have done , so a good checkover is probably a timely thing to do , I'll be interested in seeing some pics of the bits after all your "abuse" ;-)
Cheers John

Hi John, I'll certainly have a good look at the top cap/evap assy...although it was fine at the last inspection with no signs of fatigue or distortion....can't hurt to have another good look though whilst I'm fumbling around inside.
As far as evap/combustion vibration is concerned, I'd go so far as to say it is negligible/non-existent. When the engine is running, I can hear nothing to suggest any combustion "fluttering" and the engine itself is very smooth...so at least the balance is fine. Idle rpm on the weekend was ~23,000rpm @ ~3.5psi P2 and acceleration from that point was smooth and crisp all the way to ~39psi, even full throttle hits produced nothing untoward. EGT @ idle was ~540c and @ 39psi P2 I had a quick glimpse and 620C caught my eye...with A/B activated I did see 700C at full noise but she was starting to move so I didn't do the full throttle with A/B thing again....I did quite a few ~80% A/B runs though....even then there was still plenty of thrust happening.
I haven't unloaded the van from the weekend yet, got home a tad late last night and was too lazy to start ;-) .... but will probably start unloading this afternoon after work.
When I get the pipe and upper CC housing removed for inspection, I'll definitely take some detailed pics for you to cogitate over.
Cheers, Smithy.
