Hello guys! I got an offer I couldn´t resist on a Viper 301 yesterday, the guy who owned it bought it from Everett Aero for a jet pickup project but when it arrived it lacked the starter, the ignition modules and some kind of pressure pickup. I know the guy and he isn´t exactly handy so he has had the engine in storage for a couple of years without making much of an effort to source the parts needed, I got it very cheap just because he was tired of the whole mess. In a week or two I will pick it up (he lives 500km from here) and get a better view of what parts I need to source, I know that the starters are very rare and bloody expensive if one can be found. I have an idea of fitting a hydraulic starter and use an IC engine coupled to a hydraulic pump instead of an electric starter, much cheaper and easier to move around as well since I won´t have to drag two truck batteries with me. I would appreciate any kind of information about the 301, PDF manuals, tips and tricks etc etc. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Erik, thank you very much for the links! You are right about the hydraulic starter, might have to rethink that one. The thing is I don´t want to spend more money on a starter than what I did om the engine, so unless I stumble upon a cheap electric starter that can be modified to fit the Viper I will have to figure something else out. I haven´t found anything about where the 301 was used and what makes it different from the 100 and 200 series, anyone who knows? Cheers! /Anders

I think Ernie might have a 301 or two in storage. He might have some documentation

Indeed John, should be fun to have a "real" engine to blow some gravel across the yard with. I think Ernie might have a 301 or two in storage. He might have some documentation I´ve asked him and he said he would check it out.

You are a gold mine Erik! The Powerjet homepage seems to be weird though, I can see the pictures on my cellphone but not on my computer and the link to the homepage is dead. Can you please upload the schematics as pictures so I can get them?

He he, no kick build with this one Stoffe. I think the Rocket Launchers crew hit the end of the scale with their 130kg thrust kick, more than that and you don´t really want to be standing on top of it steering by bending a pair of steel runners.

Hi John, Yeah, that is the downside. At least it can double as a coffee cup holder when I am working on the turbine bike. Cheers! /Anders
