Yup, a very good looking engine that M701. I wouldn´t say no to one if I had the storage room.
What was the problem with the engine during the run on the truck, did it leak oil past a shaf seal or what? When the video was published I didn´t have time to watch the whole episode so I just eyed through it.

Looked like the o-ring seal was leaking or not in place. At the end, the cap was over tightened and stripped out the hole.

Hey that's me! The poor old engine has seen better days fellas. It was removed from an L29 in working order with a chip in a compressor vein, then two guys bought it and it sat for a period of ...years outside partially uncovered and then uncovered, filled half full of water - yes sat half full of water for not dure how long. the hydr. pump on top of the front casing was removed so there was a nice opening for water and bugs and leaves to get into the front housing with the oil - so the oil return passage for the scavenge pump is blocked and I can't get it cleared. I made a bypass hose than basically drained the oil out of the lover vertical rib back into the oil reservoir and that dealt with the oiling issue but now it is starting hot every time and is running poorly.........but I'm still cooking and blasting things..acting like a fool but having fun!
On a side note I talked to Ernie the other day - very nice guy!!
Cheers, and check out my new jet vids coming out, I race a snowmobile, blast a can of coleman lantern fuel, cook a chicken and make a lot of noise!!

Sorry if I'm telling grandma how to suck eggs but have you checked the injector spray patterns?
One of my M701s came with most of the duplex injectors in a poor state, they were just emitting streams of fuel so had torched the NGVs badly. Got a replacement set of NGVs and made a rig with a fuel injection pump to force fuel backwards though the injectors which helped a lot (after de-coking them!). They can be dismantled as well if you hammer the soft metal locking collars down and make a castle spanner which might be a better idea!
Cheers,
Jon

Cheers, Jon I did pull them and blew some fuel through them but I'll do it again, I'm wondering if the oil burning out the main seal had coked them up?? Good info thanks!!

I'm actually looking for something a bit more powerful and something I can effectively attach an after burner to, I'd like to use a mil segmented afterburner - because it looks awesome.
