Erik
Thanks for the reply. Do you know much about this turbine? Is it similar to the TRS18? How much thrust do you think it will produce?

Erik Thanks for the reply. Do you know much about this turbine? Is it similar to the TRS18? How much thrust do you think it will produce? Hi flyhilandsoft I don't no about these turbines, I just google it! From what I can read & see, those turbines are not that similar.
Also called as ASU (air start unit) , APU (Auxiliary Power Unit), air producer, air generator, these turbines are not built for jet propulsion.
Because these turbines has an oversized compressor wheel they bleed some (actually a lot) of air from the compressor & the bleed air is connected to a 2-way valve control: - Valve 1, is dump valve, air is dumped to the atmosphere when valve 2 is in closed position, to avoid compressor surge.
- Valve 2, is for air delivery to another jet engine for starting via a air hose connection. When valve 2 is in open position the valve 1 is in closed position and vice versa.
Here is a similar unit in action. If you want to be creative, maybe you can use all the bleed air to provide pressurized air to a DIY external afterburner-like/combustor to make jet thrust! But I am not sure if these engines can handle prolonged runs without modifications, I guess it could easily overheat. Cheers Erik
