Hi there,
Got a new Russian gas turbine, it's a DG4M-1, it came in the original shipping crate and with all the goodie (even a lot of spare parts) needed for getting the engine running. Does any one have thins engine?? If so I was wondering if I could get some help regarding the electrics. Got almost everything sorted...but there are two wires I'am confused about. Thanks in advance..

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the information. I found that site already, downloaded the manual before bying the engine. Most of the text is happely translated by google translate.. The manual posted by the German chap is edition 3. The manual that came with the engine is edition 5. Mostly the same but some minor chages to the electrical system. Wanna know where 162-2 and 160-2 from connector WKN-2 goes to, grrrr. I'll contact the Germans..
Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob,
I'm quite sure you can ignore the two contacts 162-2 and 160-2 from ShKP-2 ("WKN-2"). It appears that these two lines signal something to a control panel (indicator lights connected to ground? -- maybe someone with better knowledge of technical russian than me can translate "K shitku priborov mekhanika-voditelya"). This becomes obvious from the functional schematic on page 23 of the drawings book. At least it wouldn't affect the function if you leave them unconnected. Otherwise, these simple, earthbound russian engines are very rugged and almost indestructable, running at comparably low speed and low temperatures... and -- unfortunately -- ridiculously low efficiencies ;-). But they are satisfyingly noisy!
For lubricating these machines, I recommend to use low viscosity mineral base hydraulic oil HLP10 or HLP15 if you cannot get the direct replacement "Aeroshell Turbine Oil 2".
Good luck and have fun,
Thomas

Hi Thomas, First of all thanks for the info. I cound't make out the written text, google translate says that "К щитку приборов механика-водителя" means "By the instrument panel of the driver".. I have to get oil for the engine, there's prservation fluid present, found out via the manual that Aeroshell 3 should also be fine. I'll check the differences. Did some calculations about the efficiency..it's a whopping 9% (when burning diesel fuel)
