GRW bearings have a < on the outer race. Do these <'s get installed like this in the shaft tunnel <---------> or like this >-----------<?

Hi Jeff
It will depend on the orientation of the axial load and how the bearings are installed, it appears as though the < indicates the direction of axial load , your particular requirements will dictate how they need installing , .................we need a lot more information about the setup you have .
Cheers John

It's a Kamps/Schreckling type turbine.

It's a Kamps/Schreckling type turbine. Jeff Hi Jeff, John is correct. What sort of preload spring are you using?? If I remember correctly the Kamps/Schreckling engine have a coil spring adjacent to the rear bearing, similar to the old Wren MW54's.... is this correct? If so the orientation will be <------> 99% of the micro turbines are oriented like this. If you look closely at the bearing inner race you'll see where the axial load should be. The "wider" side of the inner race will be oriented towards the outer ends of the shaft. These days the newer micro turbines often use a wave washer & shims under the compressor/front bearing, bearing load/angular contact orientation is the same though. Cheers, Smithy.

Hi Jeff, Be sure to let us know how you go with the Kamps/Schreckling tubine....I studied them a lot many moons ago...have a vague sample of one at home.
