Hi Guys
After hours and hours of reading and building I have finally finished my first engine . I want to say thanks to everyone on here for all the info and help you have provided. This is a video of the second start up and run of my engine and the first time running it on diesel . The PWM fuel pump works great and allows me to throttle it nicely I ran it up to 30 psi of boost , the exhaust temp was 606F , The battery was low on my guage so I hope it was accurate ,I will retest it next time I run it , my tach did not work because the little reflective piece blew off so I will have to try something different next time. Other than that I am very happy with how it ran . Now to figure out something to put it on because I get asked that question every time someone sees it Thanks again for all your help .

Looks and sounds good what turbo did you end up using? It looks to be a Holset.

Thanks ! . It say Garrett on the inducer scroll , the tag has a few different names on it . I can`t upload any pics for some reason but the intake scroll says Garrett then it looks like either MR or AR .75 M24RC . The tag on the turbo says Detroit Diesel Corporation , Garrett and Allied Signal , there are 2 numbers as well , the top number is 23503073 and the bottom number is VH0242 L . I am not really sure what make it is Detroit Diesel or Garrett. I am assuming it is a Garrett Turbo .

You are correct it is a Garrett turbo it was probably just used on a Detroit Diesel engine. Seems to be a decent sized turbo, keep up the good work.

Hi Angry, That's a very good first attempt and a nicely built unit, well done....as many on here know, just making them run is one thing....making them run well is another. With your tacho, I have the same sort of setup, you can just put a small piece of the reflective tape on one side of the comp nut, paint the nut matte black first. No need to have the reflective tape way out on a blade, it'll fly off every time out there...been there done that.. :-)
Also, no need to put the engine in/on anything...just keep it as it is, it's a great "mancave" display unit, once it's running sweetly, looks like it's running ok already, build another, something nice and big for a go-kart or similar.
Once again...well done.
Cheers, Smithy.

Hi Smithy1 Thank you very much, I followed JetSpecs recommendations as closely as possible while building so that has everything to do with a successful start up and no real issues with the engine. I will give that a try with the compressor nut and hopefully that will get the tach working again. It sits on a cart in my mancave now and I do like it there . A friend of mine gave me a large Greddy muffler that is made of some heavy duty stainless steel so my next step is to see if I can convert it into some kind of afterburner, but that will be a winter project. Thanks again
