Has anyone tried using the tesla turbine as the free power turbine instead of the traditional bladed turbine. If not why not.

Not that I've heard about
LOL.............we go "traditional" because we actually want to produce some usable "gas turbine" horsepower.
There are Tesla Turbine Groups if you'd like to know more about them .

So the problem is no horsepower in a tesla. Just thinking as they are easier to build when it comes to balancing.

Could be the reason
There are Members on this Site that have Tesla experience , .............lotsa lurkers here ;-)

I've been reading other build threads and the feeling I get is obtaining the free power turbine is difficult/expensive and reasonably critical to get the size right or effiency of the gas producer drops or you destroy the gas producer. Remember seeing somewhere about tesla and pulse jets being used together. A large tesla producing 150 hp only revs at 10 krpm and max torque at 7500 rpm may have been easier to transfer power.

It depends what horsepower you're looking at producing whether or not its difficult to find a freepower , for <100 HP a large diesel turbo turbine wheel would be adequate , but then they could always be setup in parallel for larger power outputs .
If you can provide a Link to a 150 hp tesla that only revs to 10,000 rpm I'd be interested to take a look and give you my opinion .
Our freepower turbines produce max torque at nil rpm where it produces around twice the torque at max pm , ideal for a single ratio gearboxed land based machine .

Hi
I've read the info in the Link ....................."dreamers talkin' shit" .
Using 1.8 gallons/second of H202 for a measly 125Kw , not very good .
Cheers John
