Ooooh...J85-21 with A/B = 3500lb-f dry, ~5000lb-f wet....very nice indeed....would love to help Ernie, but I'm a bit far away..!
Lots of jet dragsters use the J85, small and very powerful for it's size.
Cheers, Smithy.

That looks like fantastic fun, Ernie. I hope you're not planning to put that coffin in the background of the first photo to use with this project!

The coffins are for the tools and fuel for the Jet Hearse..

I had to pull everything out of the boat. What a mess. Nothing is connected , lines , electrical, no gauges.... What were they thinking? It DOES have the factory A/B injector section installed. This should be a BAD ASS, if they don't burn it down first..

LOL...I like the "Vice Grip" throttle control...must be a bit hard to operate from the drivers seat though!! Cheers, Smithy.

Nice project Ernie, I have a lot of experience with the J85 in jet dragsters myself and you have a lot of things to deal with including, like your earlier comment about burning it down. Will certainly require a good insulation at the tailpipe and just for the info, the engine is a lesser dash number than a -21, as they had variable stators and a completely different design of compressor, not that that has any bearing on plenty of great performance potential. If you need any help, I have parts and would share whatever info I can that would be helpful

Rapid fire..
Thanks for the offer. I am not that familiar with the j-85 engines. This is a -17 (after digging through covered plates).
What pressure is needed for the shutter doors? Should they be closed on startup? This will be run on straight road diesel... any suggestions?
Anything special I need to know. I connected it to 24 volts and everything spins, igniter sparks but NOTHING is connected, no fuel line or control valve for the A/B. It must be 24vdc so it can be controlled from the driver seat. The fuel tanks are 36 inches BELOW the engine so I need 2 hi volume turbine lift pumps to supply the main pump.
