Hi Smithy
LOL, I especially liked those heavily tattooed bikers who took the "mandatory" step or two backwards when you hit the A/B , they can't believe a mere turbocharger GT can make more noise than their "worked" Harley on open pipes ;-)

Haha i also have a group of mates that like to run behind buildings when i run my engine. Its funny they seem to think it will just blow up. I have explained to them many times but they still run away its good fun.

Hi Nick I use Subaru oilpumps mounted to 12V motors so that the pump has oil filter and pressure reliefs built in ,though there are some 12V "water pumps" with the right seal material than can be used , the Shurflo Model 8000-643-236 . As for fueling , get hold of a Variflo spray nozzle www.delavaninc.com/variflo.htm and a decent sized EFI pump . Cheers John

John, your post suggests that the use of the Variflo spray nozzle can achieve sufficient atomization at a much lower pressure than the type you used with your motorcycle. My understanding is that the EFI pump discharge pressure is much less than the 500 psi you used on your motorcycle. What pressure is required for atomization with the Variflo/EFI combination?

Yep , because all the pump's output always goes through the nozzles swirl chamber the swirl velocity remains high even when the actual discharge is low at idling powers .
100 psi delivery should be more than sufficient pressure , though as with all nozzles the higher the pressure the finer the atomisation , if the combustor is generously proportioned then the lower pressure would be OK but if its a compact combustor then finer atomisation would be a good idea.
On my bike build I was using pressures of >1,000 psi during development , but settled on the ~50 - 750 psi range as it still gave acceptable idling atomisation .
Cheers John

Hi john with a spray nozzle will i have to change my flame tube design? Also at the moment i am using a ball valve as a throttle limiting how much fuel goes back to the tank. Will this still work or would it be better to vary fuel pump speed?
What model of subaru is the oil pump off?
Cheers Nick

upload foto Hi guys changed a few things including the idea of a pressure bypass into the afterburner what do you think.

You might find that as soon as you bleed off air your temperatures will spike .............be careful

That is one of my worries. Im only going to bleed off very small amounts to start with.

If it doesnt work i may still keep it as a fail safe if the engine tries to over boost it will open and bleed air off so it doesnt destroy itself. But even that may cause more harm than good. But i guess i will have to try it to find out.

Hi guys i found the limit of my engine and now have alot of respect for turbo chargers. My engine exploded smashing the exhaust wheel the shaft and blowing the core and comp housing clean off the exhaust housing. So i now need a new turbo.
