Hello,
Anyone have any reliable places to buy compressor impellers and turbine fans? Looking for something around 6" diameter for both.

Hi William A bit more info please , are you looking for an axial turbine wheel or radial inflow turbocharger turbine wheel . The Holset/Cummins HX82-83 range of turbos have some nice 6" dia comp wheels with varying inducer sizes . For big billet comp wheels have a look here ktsturbobilletx.com/What are you wanting to build ?? Cheers John

All scratch built and designed by me except for those two components. At least I'd like to build everything else from scratch. We'll see what happens, I'll definitely be posting about it in the future here! I have a rough Solidworks model that I made to get an idea of what tools, sizes of components, and the general layout would be. Now I'm on to doing all the math and optimizing each part before I do some FEA and then eventually build it. richard Thank you! Had no idea where this would have gone.

Hi William If you'd like to build a nice large engine I'd be using exactly the same rotating bits that Anders is using in his JU-02 build jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/thread/734/building-ju-02-gas-producerThe compressor wheel is a KTS X846 wheel, 106.56 mm inducer with a 152 mm exducer with extended tip to 156.8mm , and the turbine wheel is our trusty Garrett TV94 # 442208-0001 of 129 mm inducer 106mm exd , they should be a good match for each other . Cheers John

racket Oh cool! If his hands are similar to mine, then that's pretty much the size I'm looking at. I'd have to look at my SolidWorks model to see exactly what size I've made everything but I'm pretty sure it's close to those parts. Bonus points for the 3D printing, I was going to do that before I took my CAD files to the machine shop. Make sure everything fits properly. I'll have to spend some time reading through that thread!

Hi William If you're prepared to keep your peak pressures/tip speeds down a bit from where Anders is aiming then it'd be possible to fit everything into a 10 inch diameter outer can with a few compromises . I was able to do a 9 inch casing on my 9/94 engine using the 141mm TV94 comp wheel and ball races for bearings , theres a build thread of my 10/98 engine , brass bush bearings , with its 10 inch casing jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/thread/19/10-98-engine that you might be able scale off , it has a fairly generous vaneless space outboard of the comp wheel which could be reduced if using the slightly larger diameter comp wheel , combined with reducing the diffuser vane lengths by a few millimeters , things would fit . Hope this helps , if you need more info please ask away :-) Cheers John

racket looked back at my 3d model and realized I had scaled it down to about 100 mm and about 160mm for the casing. Originally I was going to do a 6" impeller. Whoops, haha. Still reading through your build and picking out things to learn though. Also, I'm sure I'm going to have a ton of questions soon! And you've helped a ton so far! I'll probably make a post soon about my plans and ideas. Going to build an RC autonomous plane around it once it is finished! Exciting stuff.

LOL well lets hope my plane doesn't end up turning into a cruise missile!
