I have just been lucky enough to receive free of charge not one but two decent condition hx80's from a friend who works at a deisel fitters shop. comp inducer 99mm turb exd 105-106mm twin inlet to the turbine scroll. at the moment im having some difficulty removing the rear scroll its stuck on there pretty tight and i don't want to go smacking it about and damaging anything i understand the turbine could be a little larger in size to be a good match but would like to know if anyone has made this particular turbocharger work as a jet? here are a few pictures

Hi
That should work just fine :-)
What is the turb scroll A/R , it should be cast into the scroll near the rectangular flange "foot" .
That comp wheel looks "interesting" , the rear wall looks bigger than the exducer tip dia , what size is the exducer ??
Lotsa heat and some judicious hitting of the turb scroll with a heavy "soft" object should dislodge it .
Cheers John

Hi
136 mm exducer, it must be a "low" pressure setup , so probably a "large" turb A/R .
Cheers John

Hi Looks like a Cummins unit www.turbomaster.info/eng/catalogs/model.php?base=holset&pagina=HX80 # 3594164 , not much info available :-( Don't worry too much about it , get on and build the engine , the parts will work together OK , nothing appears too far out of being matched , just be careful about temperatures if the turb scroll is a tad big . Cheers John

haha ok ill just build it is it silly to attempt both turbos using one large combustion chamber?
it would be very cool but i assume the rotating assemblys would constantly be changing speed to find a balance.
