Hi Anders Neat setup :-) You probably need to secure your "sealing strip" otherwise it might get sucked into the comp upon removal :-( Cheers John No worry, I´ll glue the sucker in place properly.

Hi John, Thanks, I have yet to road test it with the bike on the trailer but I think it will work. Last night I lengthened the side bars and added a pair of foot pegs so I can keep my balance better while being towed back to the pits. The upcoming race is the summer One Mile race, it is the 3rd September if I remember correctly. The date for next years Speed Weekend isn´t set yet. Today I made an air fitting for the JU-01 intake, I decided to build it so I can start the engine with the leaf blower to save the scuba air for the race weekend. The test runs take a hefty toll on my scuba air supply... Now I only need to find me a short length of connection pipe to the blower and then I can test it! Cheers! /Anders

Try to find a used electric furnace used for making clay pots and such, they are quite cheap and totally awesome since they produce no smoke and flames and the temp can be set very precise. I use mine both for melting aluminum and lead.

Cool build Chris, I like the fact that you are casting parts!

Hi Anders A rough check might be pushing a set of bathroom scales axially against the jet nozzle , depending on where/how the force is transmitted to the thrust sensor you could need a calibration chart . Cheers John A good idea, I'll try that!

Much easier, especially after a run when I had to sit on the bike and almost get my nuts toasted by the radiant heat while waiting for my ride back to the pits... I modified the bike towing cart today so I can use my girls quad to tow the bike, Agnes tested it around the lawn and it passed the quality control. Cheers! /Anders

Last night I finally decided to build a side stand for the bike, it was getting tiresome to be without one since my friends had to carry the paddock stand around all day long at the races so I could get off the bike before and after a run. As you can see it is foldable and secures properly in both positions, I wouldn´t want it to drop down during a run... This morning I put a couple of coats of paint on it, so now it melt in with the rest of the bike pretty well. As you could see on the previous picture I took the bike out to get some sunshine after almost a whole year in the workshop, the side stand will work fine despite the lack of a wide plate at the end since I will only have the bike standing in the shade below the race tent on concrete or asphalt. No wet lawns for it to sink into. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders Yep , lotsa gauges to measure parameters so we can cross check one against the other .............your thrust readings will be "interesting" :-) Cheers John Hi John, The thrust readings will be very interesting indeed, finally I won´t have to guess or try to measure it with some crappy spring scale and and a rope tied to a car... I just need to calibrate it properly, the manual was pretty confusing to I think I will have to consult a friend to get it sorted out. Cheers! /Anders

Poor lawn.... 😁

Hi John,
That sounds plausable, so then I can assume that the engine will behave more and more "normal" regarding to the temps the higher P2 it runs at. Unfortunately no fuel pressure reading, the gauge sits low in the bike chassis in front of JU-01 and I totally forgot to look at it.
Before the next test that will be some time this autumn I will add a jetpipe pressure sensor and a compressor outlet temp probe, along with the RPM reading I think I will get a pretty good idea of what is happening inside the engine.
Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders Congratulations , another step closer to some serious horsepower for the bike :-) Is there a jet nozzle fitted ?? Cheers John Hi again John, I just measured the jet nozzle and it is 89mm. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders Congratulations , another step closer to some serious horsepower for the bike :-) Is there a jet nozzle fitted ?? Cheers John Thanks,a big step closer! Yup, I don´t remember the exit diameter right now but it is narrowing down a bit for sure. hi Anders, one favour, in your next videos please do take your camera a bit around those grass outside, i want to see how well they dance the tune of the jet sound while lying flat on ground... lols Cheers Chuks Sure thing! The long grass was waving a fair bit at 2 bar but my friend who held the camera was busy keeping his bowels from spilling out so he didn´t notice... Good one Anders, Very happy for you, so you use a left blower to start that monster??? Cheers, Mark. I never thought it would work myself but it did, it is a 3kW model which was the largest electrical fan we could find for the jet kick.

Thanks Skynet! The engine runs smooth as a baby, I could feel no vibrations at all on the casing to it cannot be that far off balance. One thing you can hear in the video is the sound of air being sucked into the engine, like when you draw a breath with the mouth almost closed. It might indicate that the bellmouth is a bit too small but with the TOT´s being as low as they are it cannot be a big deal, we´ll see how it behaves once I get her up to higher P2´s. I need to arrange a tacho reading first (the handheld tacho will work) and secure the case screws in the front of the engine, but before I try for a full throttle run I will do another couple of "low" P2 runs first to get used to the engine and see if it remains stable in temp and revs. Not sure how many I will have time to do this summer though, I need to put the bike back in working order for its final road test before the One Mile race. I felt I had deserved a glass of scotch tonight, so cheers to you all! /Anders
