Hi Smithy
Yep , once past a certain point the returns don't justify the "dangers" .............LOL, or the expense of a rebuild :-)
Cheers John

Olov is greasing up the suspension joints on the jet kick, we have almost everything finished now and the ice is 40cm thick so this can be a very fun weekend! The weather forecast promise -2°C to -10°C during the weekend which is perfect, not too cold and no melting ice with water everywhere. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
LOL...........minus 2 to minus 10 , "not too cold" ...........I would have given anything for a plus 10 degree day last week when it was +46C and the power went out after a tree was blown down on the power wires and the aircon stopped working late afternoon , it was so hot there were fruit bats (flying foxes) dropping dead from the trees.
I'd imagine Olov is getting keen to throw his leg over the kick and fire up that afterburner for a "white knuckle ride" :-)
Cheers John

Holy crap, I´d rather have -46°C than +46°C. Except when the heating bill arrives.

Back again after a fun race weekend, I´ll write up a report tomorrow and make a video so until then you can have a teaser pic. The shape of the kick sled runners and fuel tank might indicate that Olov had a bit of a mishap, he is ok and the engine seems to have survived so no tears felled. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
LOL.............perhaps Olov needed to have been concentrating on the track rather than the girls ;-)
Good to hear he's OK , the kick can be more easily fixed than him ,...... give him my best wishes .
Cheers John

Hi Anders
Thanks for posting the video :-)
Is it a classic case of once the engine is working to full potential the chassis isn't up to the job ??
Now for a few more viewing , love the helmet cam footage .
Cheers John

Glad Olov is ok....could've been a lot worse for him...the Jet-kick can be repaired....but Olov not so easy...!
Cheers, Smithy.

Hi Anders,
I'd make a steel tube version of a DN iceboat. The 3 runners from an iceboat would probably have less sliding resistance than the 2 angle iron skis on the jet kick, and be safer too. Glad Olov is ok too.
Regards
Jeff

Thanks a lot guys! I´ll send Olov your regards, he is made of tough timber so no risk that he will hesitate to give it another go next year. As things stand now we plan to ditch the kick chassis and move the engine (once tested and proven to be undamaged) to a better suited chassis, most likely we´ll build a long ice yacht for it. As soon as time permits we will try to start the kick to see that there is no damage done to the engine, used S500 turbos are getting increasingly difficult to come by so if they are damaged by ingested snow we need to do some more thinking. Cheers! /Anders
