Hi Greg
Heh heh , yeh ,those valves and pistons make for a rough running turbine ..............thats why I stopped using them on my bikes :-)
When I first fitted a turbo to my bike in 1980 I thought this is great, a happy marriage ..........but by 1990 the pistons and valves just weren't happy being married to the turbo so they went their separate ways .................the turbo and I have been happy ever since ;-)
Cheers John

mine have had a few disputes ,but the marriage is still sound later generation motors with plain bearing cranks and better aftermarket parts, not to mention ceramics all help taken a few yrs to get the 750 to hold together above 12000rpm at high psi when its at full throttle top gear for about 90 sec biggest issues were exhaust valves, seats and ports melting , sometimes a overheating sparkplug tip could cause what i call a plasma event and just cut trenches across the head, through the valve and seat into the port twice the stem would have a neat C cut into the side even had one piston and cyl (on an overboost) pierced with a fairly neat hole and very little smearing , i thought that was a neat trick at close to 12000rpm

Some sad news for a new JATO member. Greg (ozbooster) lives in central Victoria and unfortunately his property including all his race bikes were in the way of the terrible fires that went through last week. Both he and his wife are fine, but the bikes are a total loss including the fastest 750 in the world.

Hello all. Glad to have found this forum. I am just starting to get back into turbines after 3 years.. My name is Mark Taylor, I am in the UK, Have been a qualified welder for too long!, mig and tig, Got into turbines years ago when I bought a scrap Derwent engine, restored it to running condition and bolted it to a road legal truck. Recently had to sell it due to space limitations. I have a Gnome engine and a few Williams WR 24-7 engines left to play with. Some very knowledgable people on this forum, so hopefully I can get some help to get the Gnome running, I have another project in my head which is trying to get out !!

Welcome! Glad to have you onboard, you seem to have lots of fun in your shed. I´ve always wanted a "real" engine like a Derwent to play around with but I´ll have to make do with the home built engines instead. Cheers! /Anders

Hi All I'm Mondo from southeast kent UK, I know some of you already from various sites like GTBA, HMEM/Madmodder, CNC Zone and ofcourse YouTube ( where I stumbled across Racket, Chris Krug ), Followed Anders on Mobacken. Started with a small Pulsejet that then led onto a homebuilt KJ a couple of years back. Recently saw an Artouste on the Bay and wondered how much work it would take to convert (so thought I'd nose around here for some answers), instead I read Rackets 10/98 and now re enthused with home builds (ah man ) . Got myself a fair workshop with manual and CNC but just like you guys , a serious lack of spare time. hoping sometime soon to make something similar to the 10/98 once life eases a little, love the Jetbike builds. Great resource you got yourselves here fella's , Well done Cheers Mondo

Welcome Mondo! Just curious, how do you manage to make anything out of the Swedish jibberish on our Mobacken website?
