Hi Aaron I used an airseal on my karts freepower shaft jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/thread/40/2-shaft-turbine-kart-build theres a bit of an explanation on the first page. The bleed air was fed into the endcap of the bearing tunnel , where a recess around the shaft distributed the air , there being a greater clearance on the bearing side than the sprocket side which was a close tolerance of only a few thou , the bearing side was maybe 10 thou , the bleed air also forced the few drops per minute of total loss lubrication through the bearings and out into the turbine wheel , the bleed air also stop hot gases getting back to the bearings . Got the housing back off as you can see the oil fire made a mess of it time to pull it apart and try again this things given me hell.

Finally doing the wheel shroud decided to test the ark welder in my tig it was crap at first then I remembered about putting the rods in the oven for a while first what a difference it's definitely not falling apart any time soon haha.

Been turning the wheel cover and let's just say I feel you're pain to to anyone who has done this.but it went well just need to smooth it out for more clearance 😁

Been busy mounting the cover I've gone with 5 1/4 studs and 5 6mm dowls I'm not sure if this is the best way or not I'd prefer a vee band but don't have one. I'm just worried about expansion.

One thing I've been thinking about is a wastgate somewhere that runs off a 12v actuator to bleed gas when breaking/starting

Hi Aaron
We need a far bit of running clearance for our turbine wheels , such a large one will be ~0.030" radially on the exducer (0.060" diametrically) .
Hopefully you won't have any troubles starting it , but wastegates have been used on automotive turbines , mainly to lower fuel burn rates/temps when idling etc .

Yeah trying to make the clearance at .60 it's a little tighter at the moment but I still need to polish inside so that should work out well

Cheers John With the wastgate I was meaning use a flap style one on the power turbine housing to bleed gas when breaking sorta like taken you're finger off the end of a hose
