Well initially testing showed some emf as oil gauge started flickering but after a bit it seems to be functioning fine now so fingers crossed it should be working. imgur.com/TPwuQx2

New egt gauge works perfectly, EMF issues seem to be fixed as not frying anything anymore, oil gauge flickers sometimes like it's momentarily disconnecting but quickly resets so not an issue. It's slightly annoying with a 1 minute volt display instead of egt but the "analog" bars still show temp so not a massive issue plus will take a min for me to get her running. Just to test combustion chamber and oil system and she's ready to run!

Well despite the utter chaos of my sketchy setup I got successful ignition, don't think blower was producing enough flow hence flames coming out of the end (plus a pretty wet start) but I'm just glad the improved ignition system works! Plus kerosene smells muchhh nice that diesel when burning 😁 imgur.com/X27wL97

Yep , a leaf blower won't even flow idling airflow rates , you need to really cut back on the fuel to conduct an "authentic??" atmospheric test, but the positive is it still fired up , congratulations .
First spoolup getting close :-)

Got 1.2mm aluminium sheet coming to make a nice gasket and then that's everything so just to assemble the lot, hope the oil pressure is enough and seals are good and shes ready to run

Nice! I remember my first combustor test for my jet cart with propane and a leaf blower, waaay overfueled but it looked awesome in a dimly lit workshop.

Ha... the sweet smell of success Talking aboutt about smell I somew flewt differbine / jet engines, all burning the same fuel. I can tell they all have a burningglty slightt different "aroma" Maybe from the air fuel ratio or the burning/ cooling air ratio Can't tell..

Quick and dirty aluminium "gasket" and she's ready to reassemble and start!

Lots of elbow grease went in that sawing!

The only thing I really am looking forward to in the future is when affordable metal 3D printers hit the market, imagine being able to print aluminum gaskets, turbine blades in inconel, etc etc. Except for that I would rather live in a cart and donkey century.

Lots of elbow grease went in that sawing! Only 1.2mm ali with a fresh 18tpi hacksaw blade, literally didn't have to push down gravity was enough 😁

The day we get household metal 3d printers is the day we all can just print a whole engine whilst not lifting a finger lol

Droves of formerly preoccupied hobbyists aimlessly roaming the countryside, leaving behind them trails of havoc and unwanted pregnancies. Highly likely the beginning of the end of civilization as we know it.
