Look like an air cycle machine to me I'm researching my tail off. Is that like a cooling turbine? Sorry for the seemingly stupid questions.

Yes Probably is an air cooling turbine from seeing what seems to be an heat exchanger and a turbine If it has a centrifugal compressor attached to the turbine then its an air cycle machine Basically the same operating principle

Now to figure out what kind of plane they would have gone on.

Where are you in the world? I'm canadian. You got me curious too so I did a quick search about the company that overhauled your turbine. I found this: progress-is-fine.blogspot.com/2016/02/vanished-companies-godfrey-aerospace.htmlSince an air cycle machine or a cooling turbine work from the engine compressor bleed air, it has to be a jet or gas turbine engine In that link they mention C-130 ( Hercules) or Sea King helicopter...Maybe, maybe not But iy would make sens. Try searching for those aircraft cabin air conditioning systems schematics. They re also called environmental control systems.

Hmmm, I don't see anything under nomenclature. I'll keep looking. One thing is for sure, they look nearly new, so they weren't used much, if at all. By the way, it appears they were shipped to a base in QC.

In the link I ve sent you can read this: The types of air cycle machines may be identified as: Simple cycle consisting of a turbine and fan on a common shaft Two-wheel bootstrap consisting of a turbine and compressor on a common shaft Three-wheel consisting of a turbine, compressor, and fan on a common shaft Four-wheel/dual-spool consisting of two turbines, a compressor, and a fan on a common shaft
That base in Quebec would be Bagotville with is still operating.It was home to T-33, CF-5 and CF 101 back then. Its now an F-18 base There was also a base near Montreal called ST-Hubert. It was decommissioned in the 90's. Home to some CF-100 Canucks and then to an helicopter squadron.

After more digging, I found this site. It's one of the very few that mention the actual model number, which was nicely located right on the top of the crates. I was researching the turbines, and other various parts, but the completed, or end product is 1660000339178. Here's the link... www.highergov.com/nsn/1660008873271/What I found interesting is that the government is still buying this model. I also thought it was interesting that the estimated value is so much higher than the price paid. Now, I have to question how the heck these ended up in the hands of a private collector, and at a local auction where no one had a clue as to what they were. Myself included. I just knew they had to be worth a lot more than I paid.

I will submit my opinion but its just that. Your unit might have been deemed damaged, or in some way not airworthy beyond reasonable repairs. It could then had ended in one of those government auction since this is not a security/ military sensitive device. www.gcsurplus.ca/mn-eng.cfmAnd then resold to you..

It's odd that they were overhauled and not used, though. Maybe they just deemed them to be unusable after sitting for so long after overhaul. They look nearly new, so they were never used much, if at all. The paperwork even says "no known hours on turbine". Either way, they will be good for parts, if nothing else. )
