Hi Chris, We will be putting FOD protection/ducting in , but as we have the intake a bit higher than the bike you built, it should be well above the road surface/debris field and hopefully have the potential to ingest quite a bit less. Very interesting the solution you are using with the sticky material. I just finished installing all the plumbing and on board equipment and did some preliminary oil pressure tests... so far no leaks Fuel pressure tests up next, so it should be interesting to see how well the 'fly by wire' does in this configuration compared to the previous ones. Only have a few more smaller fittings to make as well as the main transition ducting and then me and the boys can light it up. I am getting pretty excited about test riding it, as Frank was probably the biggest adrenaline rush I've ever had, so this one will probably replace sex, eating, sleeping and any other pleasure for me. From memory, John got around 110hp. out of Frank's power-plant and B1 has over 150hp. and just tips the scales at 150 kilograms compared to Frank's 280kgs, so it will be a rocket-ship and a half ;D I think, based on John's previous fuel consumption tests of the 10/98 and what tankage we have planned for this bike, that we should get close to 3/4 of an hour of run time, so it should yield some interesting figures: so.. much testing planned and more testing . Fuel supplies aren't going to be too much of a problem, as we have access to a few thousand litres of recycle fuel at the big turbo re-conditioners in town. Will get some more pics up once I have a chance. Regards, Andrew

Hi JDW and all...yes, I can finally give you an update on the progress so far B1 is finally developed sufficiently for me to start hot gas testing, which I have been doing for the past few days and with good results. I have actually fast tracked some of the static tests, as I just can't wait any longer The main reason for the silence at my end has been a complete lack of time to get into the site for a breakdown of what's happening, but also the other things that happen in one's life while trying to develop something that hasn't really existed before...yes I know..preaching to the converted LOL I have been putting in between 12-16 hours a day on the program since John sent the 1098 down two years ago which is as much as I can and family and health issues have eaten up the rest of my time. The good news is that all of the work has yielded benefits and as soon as I can get more of the test and required modifications done, I can start detailing what has been developed to get the project up and going to this stage. The current en carnation of B1 is really only a full test/mule configuration and allows me to develop quite a few other variants that will have more real world application. Can only seem to load one pic at a time (will have to sit down one day and learn how to put multiple pics up for you ) so for now just one and further details to come once other things have been established. Regards to all who have been following this and hope the wait has been worth it. By the way Ernie those switches are brilliant and made my life a bit easier ;D Regards, Andrew Attachments:

Jettoymaker,
Lookin good!! You have a very beautiful project and i wish you the best with your development and testing. Looks like I'm going to have to commit to one of my projects and develop something worthy of JATO!!!
Salute, Justin

Thanks Justin,
It's been a long time in the making. Still testing when I can..having a heatwave for the past little while or other nasty weather so not good for testing in. Today it 46C in my workshop so nothing going to happen till things are sane again with the weather.
Stick to it and whatever you build, it will go. Most of the guys on here are as dedicated as yourself but it's just that the subject matter is not as simple as it may seem. But if it wasn't "interesting" and a little dangerous, I wouldn't want to do it ;D
Will post a vid of one of the runs once I get B1 up to a happy self sustain and I can get my uncooperative camera to give up the goods!

oh man when you get out on the road and every ride you give it a little more fuel..... take it home, check it over, give it a little more fuel on the next ride......... the best part is just around the corner!!!!!!! Don't worry about us, you can come give us the details after you get your hair blown back and some bugs in your teeth from smiling!

Hi Guys, Got a quick minute in between running around like a scalded blowfly, so a brief rundown on what has been happening thus far. Sorry Chris...not able to ride it just yet, as the silly season, domestic obligations, stinking hot or blowy wet days and the seemingly idiotic lack of very simple components in our area, has slowed up progress quite a bit, but now that things have been bludgeoned into submission with the build, and with John's sagely advise as usual, we can start looking at a full test run soon. I also have the best wife in the Universe who picks up all the slack and makes things stay out of the way wherever possible. We have run a series of breaking in tests with hot gases and pump calibration being the most involved and time consuming, but for the most part, the design and integration of the systems seems to be reasonably straight forward and working well. We did several false starts in which there seemed to be a fuel volume problem relating to the pump, but all is well now and this morning's test showed that the 1098 was willing to pull away on it's own and that a slight lack of battery power was the only reason for an abort in this case. The other aborts so far have been educational if not terrifying Temps have been within reasonable parameters and will be as prescribed via John's bench testing. Will have another go in two days and if all goes well, will get back in and make note on the site. Hope everyone's projects are doing well.

Hi Guys
After a long distance phone session with Andrew yesterday , throwing back and forth ideas on why the bike is having difficulties getting up to idling , Andrew made some minor mods and latter confirmed the bike is now alive after a successful spoolup with just the usual "moments" when starting a new engine for the first time ,.......... a bit of tweaking should have her running smoothly and ready to ride :-)
Cheers John

Hi Guys, Finally got a moment to sit in front of the box, so here is a link to the clip of B1's first run. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I was terrified. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ctd5h-BV_g4Regards, to all

Hi, Guys,
Not much traffic through I see. Didn't realise the Jetbike was this boring LOL
Anyway..got a few minutes after test running the bike for calibration tests on the fuel system as well as check the pump operation for the test ride in a couple of weeks...all going as planned. John calculated the fuel flows after today's run and found it all within acceptable range.
Will post another vid as soon as I get another moment.
