I just got off the phone with the angle drive gear supplier, he has involved his german colleagues in this and they should be able to find a set of suitable gears and an aluminum case that matches. He made it very clear that they didn´t want to leave any warranty though...

Hi Anders
LOL..........the warranty expires the moment you had over the cash .................sounds about normal :-)
I'll be very interested in what they can come up with .

Hi John, Here is the link for the manifacturer, they have some good looking cut-through pics of the bevel gearboxes if you dig around a bit. www.atek.de/atek_2011/index.php/en/Cheers! /Anders

I totally agree, looking at the internal pics of the gearboxes makes me realise that I have one hell of a job to make a gearbox anywhere near that on the manual mill... I told him from the beginning that this project is 100% funded out of my own pocket so I can´t afford any 4.000€ gearboxes, he told me that we would figure something out so hopefully I won´t have to sell the house.

I just got myself a nice big V-band flange for the power turbine housing, the housing will be split just behind the turbine tip cover so the exhaust duct/turbine wheel/shaft housing/gearbox part can be separated from the gas producer/power turbine NGV part. I am almost done figuring out how the PT housing will be made, I think I will build it out of cheramic coated mild steel just like the gas producer NGV to save both cash and effort.

The work on the drawings has come to the point where I can order the material for the power turbine NGV, the shaft tunnel and exhaust duct material will have to wait until I know the dimentions of the gearbox. The shopping list. Cheers! /Anders

A friend of mine read the blog post where I wrote that I needed some steel rings for the power turbine NGV and sent me a picture on the phone yesterday. Not only did he give me the rings for free, he also drove 120km tonight to give them to me and brought a bag of thai takeaway food in case I was hungry! That is what you call friends. I have some hours of work on the lathe ahead of me now, feels great to have some real work to do again and not just fine tuning between test runs. Cheers! /Anders
