Hi John, Indeed, not much work left until I can start testing the engine. Very soon a new build thread will appear here, Olov and I have decided to build a new jet kick for this winters Speed Weekend so we know what to do with our spare time from now on. A twin turbo jet kick with a single afterburner and 100kg of thrust, should be fun. Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
Your turbine looks very nice, how much thrust does it make? And expected horsepower with the power turbine?
Cheers Erik

Thank you Erik!
I didn´t manage to make any valid thrust measurements, after 45kg thrust the test stand started to tip over so I don´t know what it´ll produce at top revs but well over 50kg I am sure.
The calculations say >150hp without water injection so that is my "goal" for now, I´ve talked to a friend with a motorcycle dyno but he could´t test the bike because of the exhaust flow. After just a few seconds it will be impossible to be in the room... =)
Top speed is the only thing that matters so I won´t bother to get it dynoed, I am not even sure it can be taken up to full power without ram air since the air box might restrict the incoming air too much.
Cheers! /Anders

Wow that's a lot of power! What is the flow rate then?

The engine is back in the frame now, I had to grind some material away from the air box for the engine to fit between it and the freepower housing. I need to mill a couple of mm´s from the gearbox mounts to get the JU-01 and freepower housing to align at the V-band clamp. Then it was the issue with the chain tension, I haven´t decided yet if I should fit a chain tensioner or not but no matter what I still have to mill away the corner on the gearbox mount. This is the first time I really miss a tilting vice, I managed to use my ordinary vice but it took some effort... =) Cheers! /Anders

Hi Anders
LOL.......at least your vice is mounted on metal struts ..................I probably would have used wood ;-)
Ah , those fiddly little jobs at the end of a build to get things "just right" .
All looking good :-)
Cheers John

Thanks John and Steve! I took half the day off from work today to fix my plasma cutter, Olov will borrow it to cut the flanges for the new jet kick this weekend. I had some time left so I milled 1mm off the gearbox mounts for better alignment between gas producer and power turbine. Finished! With the smallest front sprocket fitted I have enough clearance for the drive chain, later when I need higher gearing I need to figure out some kind of chain tensioner but this will do for now. I am very very close to the test start of the bike, >I only have to rivet the drive chain and brush some dust from the suit. Cheers! /Anders

Can't you borrow a treadmill or something to ride your bike? I want to see it running!

I´ll ask the local gym. *LOL* I´ve done the last stuff that needed to be fixed before the test start now, I fitted the new brake discs... ...and cut the drive chain to lenght and riveted it. With that done I held my breath and tested if the piston ring seal would still leak oil or not, to my great relief not a single drop came out of the drain after a minute with 3.5kg oil pressure! If the weather and time permits I will try to start the bike on sunday, stay tuned! Cheers! /Anders
