Once all the guts are removed, I cut the little case in half so it wouldn't take up tons of room in my radio shack project box. In this pic, you can see a 12 volt to 5 volt circuit found from ebay ($6). This gets rid of the rechargeable battery and all the extra other crap inside the gun. Also in the pic is a 555 timer board with 12v auto relay. When power is applied, the relay board pulses power to the 12v to 5v converter which in turn, pulses the stun gun. This helps keep everything happy. (You aren't supposed to run stun guns for extended time). Jamie Attachments:

The spark it creates is loud and bright.

Here is a pic of the whole assembly buttoned up. The project box holds the stun component, the voltage converter, and the 555 timer board. There is a thin piece of plastic inside that keeps everything separated. I also drilled some cooling holes top and bottom for air flow. The red and black wire out the top go to the switch. I mounted this box on the side of the battery as that's the only space available in my tight frame. Jamie Attachments:

Here is a pic of my completed Gas Turbine ;D It's been a long journey of research and construction (about 6-7 months from start of part collecting to now). The only things left are some cosmetic items - I plan to put some decals here and there. Also, I have parts coming to build an afternburner I plan to spool it up this weekend! Jamie Attachments:

Grins and giggles, would you post the compressor and turbine dimensions?

It's a little T3/T4. Here is a pic I snapped of the inducer wheel before buttoning it up. Jamie Attachments:

IT"S ALIVE!!! ;D ;D ;D I test started the jet last night for the first time. It took a few minutes to get the idle valve setting right, but it started and ran great! I got it up to 102,000 rpms before my almost empty propane tank's pressure dropped out. Here are the readings I wrote down once started: 102,180 rpms 977 degrees F egt 12-13 psi in the combustor 40 psi oil pressure Any thoughts on those? Here is the video from last night's start: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ8KvHO9X3YParts arrived for the afterburner also! Jamie Nashville

I know I asked on the DIY group, but might as well be preserved here:
the sound starting at 1:26, is that turbo surging or is that just the wind and sound sampling rate playing tricks?

not sure...I thought I might have started getting some surge in the upper throttle area, but by the time I wanted to see, the tank of propane was already pretty low.
If it is surging, you think I should open up another set of holes in the flame tube? which region?

surge is a function of air being trapped in the combustor due to the compressor blowing quite a bit harder then the turbine can let it flow
here is a good example of the sound, and since this was a dyno run with at least half decent instrumentation, you can see what is going on from a data standpoint too
if it didn't sound like that (and it should be a bit loud...) then it probably wasn't surging

Got my afterburner part in the mail today... It is actually designed for a truck. 16 gauge stainless steel. 4" on the big end, 2.25" on the nozzle end. I will plasma out a circle adaptor ring to weld it to my current nozzle. Not sure how long I will leave it yet. Jamie Attachments:
