I spray paint my wooden patterns with several coats of paint and sand them back with fine "wet and dry" to get a very smooth finish , its a slow process :-(

I spray paint my wooden patterns with several coats of paint and sand them back with fine "wet and dry" to get a very smooth finish , its a slow process :-( Yeah I used spray paint it's a learning process but when I work it out I can cast anything I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment so may as well learn something I made the green sand with bentonite cat litter blended to a powder then mixed it with washed sand that I sived

Defently not a gearbox case I had a lot of those in the beginning. I even had a mold explode on me that wasn't dry enough when I poured. Keep at it, you'll get there!

Great effort, would if have come out perfectly with greensand? How did you make your furnace?
Your previous post with the oil tank made me buy a tig welder ๐๐

Your previous post with the oil tank made me buy a tig welder ๐๐ Cheers Scott Yep it was diy greensand close to the real thing but not perfect.the furnace was just from crap laying around the yard a big gas bottle for the outside kiln dried clay beads for the heat proof layer and gal flu section inside the burner is just a tube with a mig welding tip inside to distribute the gas and a old ducted fan rough but she works well.the oil tank took some work but it turned out ok.

Canโt seem to find much info on the light it has f.carlio cast into the glass and body and a sword it also has two female pin connections on the back one says 45amp Iโm thinking I might had been a ship deck light I found it at an opp shop for $40 I just think it looks cool
