I have used and to this day still use a needle valve in my gtp70 engine to control the rpm, other than what it is designed to run at constantly.i do believe i installed valve in the return line, will get back to on that one. With needle valve I could get down to about 55% running speed, when you have valve turned down until your turbine starts burbbling, running rough you have reached limit, turn valve up a little until engine starts to run a little bit smoother, that is your limit,at about 55% speed your egt temp should about 275-300f,hope this helps...........john

boy am I glad I said I would get back to you on placement of needle valve,I was wrong big time. This how my set up goes as far as needle valve is concerned. On the line that goes to your fuel nozzle some where in between the fuel pump and your fuel shut off solenoid, put in a T fitting,on that fitting, above your fuel line you will install needle valve with a hose that goes back to fuel tank, that is going to be fuel return line.once that is installed and set up you will be able to control the amount of fuel pressure going to your nozzle.I works better than you could ever expect it too and you have not by passed any safety features that I am aware of.Any questions?........John

I really need the tachometer generator and a matching tachometer for this GTP70. Anyone have one or have the correct part numbers? I'll see if i can find the numbers on my engine. I bought the tachometer generator and tachometer off of ebay from 2 separate buyers, ran the engine with the 60 kw 400 hz generator and compeared the speed to the generator frequency so I know these are accurate.

Are you using a fuel pump Cheers, Mark.

I am having oil pressure problems. I get 25 psi while cranking igniter disabled. Then when I crank it up the pressure only runs about 30 psi. I pulled the oil filter and no significant debris. Also pulled the relief valve and no debris found. yesterday I topped off the oil after the first start with MIL-PRF-7808L it sure seemed thinner than the original oil. Prior to that I had good oil pressure. The pressure is apparently not enough to crack the oil pressure switch because I have to hot wire the igniter and fuel solenoid to get it started
What oil are you all using?
Thanks, Bill

I use MIL-L7808,it a good oil to use up to 100F ambiant temp. At approx.3 psi the oil press switch will crack, providing power to ignition box and the fuel solenoid valve. My gtp 70 has a full power oil psi of about 45 psi.My gtp30 turbine operates under same paramaters

Bill Bill i need to look around for the back plate as we took the tachometer apart. I found this tachometer on ebay it's the same one i am using www.ebay.com.au/itm/121848011055?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Good that you have a neighbor who like what you are doing Keep a eye on ebay there was a couple of GTPs for sale late last year more will come up. Thanks, Bill It sounds like your oil pressure switch is not working properly. I posted out your manual you should have it sometime next week, it will show how to test the switch. Are you getting 30 PSI when the engine is running I'm using turbo oil 2380. You could use a adjustable hobbs pressure switch and bypass the oil pressure switch just find the wire from the switch that goes to igniter and hook it up to the hobbs switch and crank engine and adjust until you hear the igniter and for you fuel solenoid use a on off switch. Cheers, Mark.

I am having trouble getting it started. It just floods out and kerosene RUNS out the outlet. I have had it running on kerosene. Looked thru the manuals and the "testing after overhaul" section VIIII says correct fuel is GASOLENE.
Any comments?

Has the manual i sent you arrive yet? It has a trouble section which might help you out. Have you remove and check the igniters for cracks? Just stick with kerosene.
Cheers, Mark.
