Finally some time to work with the gas producer again! I massaged the NGV a bit where the combustor inner wall will sit and next up is to start cutting out the combustor sheet in 1mm ss2333.

Hi Anders
LOL, make sure you change that tongue position from time to time to stop it getting tired ;-)
Won't take long to get the FT finished .
Cheers John

I cut the stainless sheet for the inner and outer flametube wall and drilled some holes today, didn´t have time to finish the outer wall today but it is a straightforward job and shouldn´t take more than a couple of workshop passes to get done.

I thought it would be a royal pain in the ass to drill all those holes in 1mm stainless sheet but it was easy peasy, some of the drills used could use a sharpening but that was expected considering the number of holes drilled with them.
The hole pattern design is made by racket by the way, just thought I should mention it in case I run into any combustion problems later. ;D

Hi Anders
Nah , drilling holes in stainless is easy once you've done the first couple of hundred ;-)
I've gone over to cobalt drills for some of my stainless work , but a nice sharp HSS drill works just as good in most cases .
Heh heh , yeh that hole pattern had better work , otherwise I'll know you were drilling the holes from the wrong side of the sheeting ;-)
Cheers John

Today I got the selection of syringe needles that I bought on Ebay a while ago, they will be used to make the fuel manifold later.

Are there any places to stay near you (nice hotel with 150 TV stations and high speed internet)? I always wanted to see Sweden. it seems theres lots of crazy people who like to convert fuel to energy as fast as possible.
I'll bring the WOAT, we can modify it for the kick races. What language do I need to learn? Just the technical and beer talk is all I need to master.

You are more than welcome to come over for a visit anytime, and if you want to participate in next years Speed Weekend you can live with us and share our tools and work tent. I hope you can handle three days of Swedish wanking music and beer, otherwise you will be in deep trouble... ;D The WOAT will be a great vehicle for the ice racing, just fit a set of skates instead of wheels and you are set to go. Try to memorize " mer öl", " full gas" and " släpp kuken, masjävel!" and you will do just fine.

If I don't sell the turbine off the WOAT, I'll bring it with me for the next speed week and maybe we can throw something together and find a brave lightweight 7 year old to drive the thing. I wonder what the security people will say when they find a complete turbine in my carry on bags. There's no way I'm sending that as checked luggage.
I'll memorize whatever it takes.

That would be fun! Perhaps a jet powered Stiga snowracer? There is a guy at the Speed Weekend race that has made a thing out of getting towed on a snowracer behind a car, he is aiming for 200km/h but I don´t know if he has made it yet. It would be hillarious if you would outrun him on a turbo prop powered Stiga sled. ;D

Todays project was the rear flame tube wall, Racket had proposed nice radiused corners like the ones on the front wall but the only result I could imagine from such an attempt would be a wave washer so I decided to cut some corners. (ha!) I chose to make a two-piece wall instead of one out of a single sheet, a cone was cut out, drilled and welded together. A coned wall was chosen because it won´t distort from the heat as easily as a flat wall. Then a strip of 1mm stainless was cut and rolled so it can just slip over the NGV edge. The two parts welded together with enough gap between the cone and the NGV to provide a good flow of cooling air for the NGV.
