Hi everyone, firstly thanks to the JATO staff for setting this site up. I hope this site will grow in years to come, i am also a DIY member and working with John and Andrew on the jet bike project. OK about me i live in Melbourne Australia and have built a turbo jet engine a few years ago,and now building a T 30 turbo jet. As you can see in the photos i have remove the cast iron scroll and fabricated the turbine shroud out of a LPG tank, also using the T 30 nozzle guide vanes. I'll have more photos soon as work progress. Cheers, Mark... Attachments:

have you yet considered how you'll start it? A lot of turbo projects i've seen have used air to start them, which is also nice because once it comes up to speed you really don't have to worry about the friction generated from an affixed starter or tryto find a way to disengage the starter.

Hi Richard, Maybe a large leaf blower or air impingement.

Now THAT is recycling... easy to get and repace. Lets get it going.
If you make noise in Australia....... Does it really sound backwards in the States? Kinda like water in a toilet.....
Very interesting... Keep us up with the project as you go along.

Hi Ernie, LoL i don't know if the jet noise will sound backwards in the states, you can have a listen on you tube with my first turbo jet i built which is turbo jet from down under. Yes the tank was easy to get found on the side of the road. I must get this right as i will weld the two external flanges all the way around the tank, yea easy to replace but will cost me hundred of dollars if i stuff up I'll keep you up to date on the build. Cheers, Mark..

Hi all, Just a small upate on the engine, as you can see in the pics i had the base plate machine for the NGV to recess in the base plate with 50 thou clearance for expansion of NGV, and had a 8mm ss plate cut to sit on top of the NGV with 6x 1/4 inch cap screws which are position right in front of each vane which i hope will not disturb gas flows. Cheers, Mark.. Attachments:
